Are you ready for Vista?

There have been many articles and tables out there recently about the minimum and recommended hardware requirement for running Microsoft Windows Vista.
But I recently found this very useful link. It is basically a Java program that checks your system and tells you all you need to know about your hardware if you are to run Vista.
It also gives you very good suggestions. (link)

Persian, among top ten in blogosphere!

I read an interesting article on blogging in BBC today. According to BBC, the web's love afair with blogging shows no sign of abating. Everyday, 100,000 new blogs are created and 1.3 million posts are made, BBC says.
Farsi - a Persian language spoken in Iran and Afghanistan - has moved into the top ten languages of the blogosphere for the first time.

Linux and me, part 1

Well let’s be honest. I’m not happy with windows. I am an expert user of MS-Windows. I remember when I first started using Windows XP how excited I was. It looked just great and it was ways more stable that its predecessors. It was a welcoming feature foe all of us frustrated by that infamous “Blue Screen of Death”. It was still there, just not as frequent as before.
Anyway, I have been always tempted to try Linux for my computer. It was just looked (and still looks) a good alternative to windows. From my few experience I had the impression that it is faster and more comfortable with low profile hardware comparing to windows. And it was so.
It is way more stable and above all there is loads of free and open source software in any field you can think of.
Another nice feature is that you have the choice for the user interface. You can choose from KDE, Gnome or some other desktop environments. Yet you can change and customize them quite considerably.
After some time I gave up installing Linux on my computer for some reasons.
I remember loosing my entire hard drive data when I was trying to setup a dual boot system. So I gave up Linux for some time.
Plug and play was another issue.
Things got just better recently with the new distribution of Linux. Installer programs have just got more user-friendly and straight forward.

Fuji S6000 or DSLR?

I finally found a good review of Fuji S6000. It is a nice looking DSLR-like camera with more than 10x optical zoom. One of the most interesting features on this camera is a manual focus ring on the lens.
I am very tempted to buy it. However, I think I should buy a real DSLR camera to improve my photography skills.
Right know my best two choices are Nikon D50 and Pentax K100D.

Last night I managed to read nearly 20 pages for my exam. It is not enough. I should also write a short essay in next few days. It is already late.

The very first note

I am writing here to "save" today. I want to surprise myself by reading my own notes in the future.
There are things that I want to remember. There are feelings that I don't want to forget. Well, I do have a PDA, but for God's sake, who writes this kind of stuff on a PDA. Beside, there is always the risk of data loss.

It is 1:20 AM and I have to study for my exam. It is in the January 2007 and as usual I am not well prepared. After finishing this note I will "try" to study for at least a couple of hours.

But before going back to my book, I wanted to mention a very interesting application I found today. It is called openDX. It is some sort of data explorer and visualization and modeling program. I guess the best example of this software in WINDOWS word would be MATLAB.
I installed it in my Linux. After some tweaking and editing configs files it is now up and running.
