Linux and me, part 1

Well let’s be honest. I’m not happy with windows. I am an expert user of MS-Windows. I remember when I first started using Windows XP how excited I was. It looked just great and it was ways more stable that its predecessors. It was a welcoming feature foe all of us frustrated by that infamous “Blue Screen of Death”. It was still there, just not as frequent as before.
Anyway, I have been always tempted to try Linux for my computer. It was just looked (and still looks) a good alternative to windows. From my few experience I had the impression that it is faster and more comfortable with low profile hardware comparing to windows. And it was so.
It is way more stable and above all there is loads of free and open source software in any field you can think of.
Another nice feature is that you have the choice for the user interface. You can choose from KDE, Gnome or some other desktop environments. Yet you can change and customize them quite considerably.
After some time I gave up installing Linux on my computer for some reasons.
I remember loosing my entire hard drive data when I was trying to setup a dual boot system. So I gave up Linux for some time.
Plug and play was another issue.
Things got just better recently with the new distribution of Linux. Installer programs have just got more user-friendly and straight forward.

(to be continued...)
